What Is Cha Cha?

Cha Cha is a Latin dance developed in Cuba in the 1950s, derived from the mambo. It is danced to a four-beat count (2-3-cha-cha-cha or 1-2-3-cha-cha) and is characterised by sharp hip movements, Cuban motion and quick, cheeky footwork.

As one of the five International Latin dances, Cha Cha has a structured competitive format. As a social dance it is energetic, fun and widely enjoyed at Latin nights and social events.
